More Guy

Gavin seems to be stealing the spotlight lately- I don't know if it is because I am home with him all the time, if he is at one of those "explosion" stages where he is learning new things at the speed of light, or if it is because he is the craftiest of the crafties here.

Today he taught Chase how to climb over the redneck fence around the patio.  Thanks, man.  I am all for Chase learning new skills, but that is one that I could have done without.

Huh.  I guess it is a good thing the new fence will be installed next week, eh?

Side note:  I enrolled Guy in a 2 morning/wk preschool program today.  He will start in the fall.  It's at the same preschool that Ian and Chase both went to.  I love them there so much.  We walked in there today, and were greeted so warmly, with the director (Miss Randi) and his teacher (Miss Angie) both excited to see us and looking forward to our return to the school.  It will be nice to have a tie back there again-- love the teachers there, love the parents and the other kids.  Gavin is going to have a blast, even though he was a little freaked out that Miss Angie was shooting Silly String at her 2 year olds when we walked in.

While I was talking to Miss Randi about him- telling her that he was Mr. Independent-Don't-Worry-I'll-Do-It-Myself...I noticed that he was actually climbing on top of a workbench set to try and get a giant Pooh-Bear off the top of a cupboard.  Way to illustrate my point, little man!

Chase and Guy- Sweet.

Chase just got home from school.  Guy was getting ready to go outside and play with bubbles in the water table.

Guy goes up to Chase, hugs him, and says, "Hi Chasey!  Bubbles outside?  Come on!"

(It really sounded like this:  Hi Chasey!  Bubbos ahside?  Ahm on!)

What? Where do you keep YOUR kids?!

Baking and Snacks with Ian

Just want to record how much I am enjoying my time with Ian right now...he's helping me bake lemon bars for the school's bake sale tomorrow, and in between licking the bowls, we are snacking on strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar.

He's such an awesome little kid.  I love that he still enjoys doing things with me (when he is not too cool for me, or engrossed in a Lego Star Wars game).

Guy Funnies

If I had any doubt that Guy was going to be the biggest mover and shaker in this family, I shouldn't anymore.

The things he has done this week alone:

• Continuously pushed kitchen chairs over to the sink to "play water"- which is all well and good when I am in the kitchen with him, but when I was laying comatose on the couch with the stomach bug for the second time in 4 weeks, it was not at all amusing.
• If he wants anything- anything at all- he will go ahead and make plans to get it without my help.  He scoots into the van first thing so that he can get to my stash of gum in the console before I can stop him- he says, "Bum...hand?"  (Gum in my hand?-- nothing to do with his actual bum, thank goodness)
• He began crying hysterically this morning when he woke up.  I went in to get him, and there he was, dangling by his fingertips on the outside of his crib.  He is the only one who has ever tried to climb out of the crib... 

Seriously, Ian is so cautious, that he would always ask me prior to doing anything, and Chase, although he would climb like a monkey, wouldn't have tried the multi-step operations that Guy is up to.  

We got trouble.  Right here in River City.
